Minimum percentage of games played for stat significance

Tagged:

This functionality has been a long time coming. Everyone has the person playing on their team that shows up to one game and has the best game of their life. From that point on, they appear at the top of their stats because they have the best averages on the team. Since stats like this don't significantly prove that these players are indeed having the best season, there is new functionality introduced today that will drop these players to the bottom of the stats.

To setup the percentage of games a player must play for their stats to be significant, you will have to head on over to the "Edit Team" page. There is a field called "Games played percentage required to appear at top of stats". You can set this field to any value from 0 to 100 in 5 percent increments. By default, the site will set this value to 25%.

Take a look at this example below. We have set the stat percentage to 75%. In this example our team has played 4 games already so a player will have to have played in at least 3 of them to appear at the top of the stats list. The GP column for each player is divided by the GP for the team to calculate the percentage of games played per player.

When this percentage is being used you will see a line going through the middle of the stats so you can easily tell which stats are significant and which aren't. Notice how "John Trava" didn't play the required 75% of the games so his stats drop to the bottom even though he has the best batting average on the team.

Entering partial innings for Baseball/Softball

Tagged:

Lately, a lot of members have been asking about partial innings. The site is setup to take innings just like you would see in a major league box score.

If you wish to enter 2 1/3 innings, you would put 2.1 in the innings field. If you wish to enter 2 2/3 innings, you would put 2.2 in the innings field.

If you enter 2.3 in the innings field, it will actually add up and equal out to 3 full innings.

Box Scores for Team Schedules and Game Print Outs

Box Scores are now available for teams through the schedule. You can add them through the "Edit" screen for each game on your schedule. There are two important fields you will find on the "Edit Form" for Box scores. Usual Periods is the number of periods you were scheduled to play for the game. If this was a baseball game and you usually play 6 innings you would enter 6 for this. If you play basketball and you play two halves you would enter 2 here. The second field is Last Period. For this field, you want to choose the last period you played in the game. This is where you have the opportunity to input whether or not the game ended early or went into overtime.

Here is a screen shot of the edit form (FYI - You cannot enter the box score information as you add games, only when you edit):

When looking at the schedule you have the option of clicking on the final score to see the box score. The box score will also appear on the game stats print version. Here is a screen shot of the team schedule and what the box score looks like:

E-mails sent when team stats are added/modified

Tagged:

Many players want to know when their stats have been updated. Until now they would have to keep logging in until they finally saw that they were added. Now each player has the option of receiving e-mail alerts whenever their coach or another player adds stats for them. We have turned this feature on by default. You can disable it by logging into the site and un-checking the "Someone updates your stats" option in the "Personal Settings" area. The site won't spam you either. We will e-mail you once for each game's stats that are added or modified. We will only send one e-mail per game unless there is more than 2 hours in between game updates or if two people modify your stats. If this is the case we will send another e-mail.
