Changes to Baseball/Softball Hitting Stats on 4/12/2009

Tagged:

*4/10 9:00pm - The AB equation had a typo in it. Hits will not be subtracted from PA to get AB's.

TomorrowsPro is currently running an At-Bat centric scoring model. On 4/12/2009 we will be switching to a Plate Appearance model to make it easier to enter your stats. We've seen many people have problems figuring out what an AB is and how they score the other fields based off of it.

If you have entered all of your fields correctly, you won't even notice when we make this change. If you haven't used AB as a field for true At-Bats you may see some scoring errors. In order to prepare for this change, please make sure your AB scoring is as follows:

At Bats = Plate Appearances - Walks - Sacrifice Flies - Hit By Pitch

We will also be changing the way you enter hits. Right now you enter Doubles, Triples, and Home Runs into their own fields. Then you have to add all of those together and also add in Singles to get your total for the Hits field. We will be changing this as well to make the H field dynamic. Instead of entering a number into the H field, you will enter singles into the 1B field and the H field will automatically add the 1B, 2B, 3B and HR columns. To get your stats ready for this change, please make sure your H field is as follows:

H = Singles + Doubles + Triples + HR

We regret to have to make such a large change just before the majority of your teams get into their season, but we didn't want to have to wait until next year to implement this change.

In order to support the above changes we will be creating a few more fields:

SH - Sacrifice Bunts
DI - Reached First Base on Defensive Interference (Catcher's Interference, etc)
BOE - Base on Error (Many people have asked for this so we are adding it. I want to remind everyone that BOE is not included in Batting Average or OBP.)

Once the change is made, there will be step by step instructions found where you enter stats that will give you directions on how to enter your stats with this new scoring method.

Please e-mail us at general@tomorrowspro.com if you have any questions or concerns.

New Privacy Controls for Team Stats

Some new privacy options have been added for teams that wish to shield their players from being compared against other teammates. By default, all team members can see their stats as well as the stats of other players for that team. Player's names are linked to their individual stats page on both the roster and the team stats pages. This new privacy option is called "Most Private" and it can be changed on the "Edit Team" page.

The "Most Private" option will remove all references to other player's stats. For other players "Team Stats" page will go from looking like the first image below, to looking like the second image below. Administrators, Coaches, and Assistant will continue to see the "Team Stats" page as usual.

Modified Team Edit Stats for more Accurate Games Played

Tagged:

Quick Update...Before today, any sports that had drop downs on the "Team Edit Stats" page counted a Game Played for every player even if you added stats for only one. Now a Game Played will only register if you enter a statistic into at least one category for a player.

If your GP category is not correct for certain sports, go into the "Team Edit Stats" page and clear out each field for each player that did not play in that game. Once each of those rows is completely blank, submit the form and your GP category should be correct.

How to Start a New Season for your Team

Tagged:

The real power of TomorrowsPro comes when you use it over the course of a few years. Each team is allowed to store as many seasons of data as they want so you should take advantage of it. The power of data will help you prove that there was improvement over the course of the off season. It's a great way to justify that off-season training program you finally got your players to commit to.

In order to make this new season as concise and easy as possible, follow these steps:

  1. Retire any players that are no longer going to be participating in this new season you are creating on the "Team Roster" page.

  2. Create a new season on the "Team Schedule" page.

  3. Add any new players for this new season to the roster on the "Team Roster" page.

Remember to add e-mail addresses for all of your players so they can have access to their stats whether it be now or in the future. Don't let all the time you spend uploading these stats go to waste!!!
